Research Findings
Interviews
Our team gathered research using two different methods: interviews and competitive analyses. Each team member conducted an interview with a potential user in order to probe for desires, pain points, and other related information and compiled our individual, key insights together to understand better the features and interactions our website should have. A few of our general insights:

-
Eye-catching, organized, and aesthetically pleasing social platform management is very important, as the information reaches the volunteers in a clear way.
-
It is difficult for volunteers to reach out to nonprofits and seek out opportunities because these organizations normally only rely on email as a form of communication.
-
It will be very helpful for the volunteers to see descriptions of the duties, the environment, and the situations they will be placed in.
-
Volunteers value their health as well as the aspect of giving/community so finding ways for them to continue volunteering safely during these times is essential.
-
Creating an app/website that is very user-friendly and easy to navigate for those who aren’t tech-savvy is crucial in order to target the valuable, older generation that makes up a large population of volunteers.
Competitive Analyses
Each team member also individually conducted a competitive analysis to survey the solutions and design thinkings of similar services. By interacting and engaging with these services, we were able to identify and evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of these already existing designs. By conducting this research, we can prototype and apply our findings to our own website and create intentional designs that center around our user’s experiences.
